After a three-game absense, Gavin McKenna is picking right back up where he left off.
Friday night against the Red Deer Rebels, the 2026 NHL draft prospect posted a goal and three assists to bump his point streak to 36 games- the longest in the WHL's internet era. The mark surpasses the 35-game plateau set by Logan Stankoven and Connor Bedard in the 2022-23 season.
In his 36-game run, McKenna has accumulated 81 points. Yes, you read that correctly: 24 goals and 57 assists, last going emptyhanded on the scoresheet on November 2 against the Brandon Wheat Kings. His last game with a singular point was February 15 against the Regina Pats- six games ago.
With four games remaining in the regular season, McKenna has a chance to tie (and break) the CHL record of 37 games set by the one and only Sidney Crosby in the 2004-05 season.
With both teams not quite in the mix yet, a big 7-1 victory by the Medicine Hat Tigers over the Red Deer Rebels pushed both clubs over the top.
