December is upon us, which means only one thing: World Juniors camp gets underway.

Team Canada announced their preliminary roster on Monday, which included ten different clubs sending representatives, with the Kelowna Rockets and Seattle Thunderbirds sending two each. Three players are returning from the 2024 roster, with one at each position.

Should he make the team, McKenna would become the eighth Canadian player in tournament history to participate at 16 years old, joining the company of now-NHL star Connor Bedard. McKenna, along with Harrison Brunicke also took gold at the 2024 U18 World Championship.

Camp is set to close out with a pair of games against the U SPORTS All-Stars on December 12 and 13, and the finalized roster will undergo a training camp from December 15-18. From there, three pre-tournament games against Switzerland, Sweden, and Czechia will close out the preparation phase.
