Alex Weiermair signs a three-year entry-level deal with the Golden Knights after leading Portland with 75 points.

Vegas Golden Knights Sign Portland Winterhawks' Alex Weiermair

Vegas Golden Knights General Manager Kelly McCrimmon announced  that the team has signed forward Alex Weiermair to a three-year, entry-level contract.

The 20-year-old right winger, a sixth-round selection (186th overall) by Vegas in the 2025 NHL Draft, has enjoyed a massive breakout season with the Winterhawks. He currently leads the Winterhawks with 32 goals and 43 assists through 57 games, tallying 16 points in his last 10 games alone.

The Los Angeles native finished with 21 goals and 25 assists in 41 regular-season games while adding 10 goals and 13 assists in 18 post-season games last year before being drafted by Vegas.

Before joining Portland mid-way through last season, he played parts of two seasons with the University of Denver Pioneers, winning an NCAA Championship in 2024.

With the signing, Weiermair joins fellow Portland teammate and Vegas prospect Carter Sotheran in the Golden Knights' system. He is expected to finish the current WHL season in Portland before potentially joining Vegas' AHL affiliate, the Henderson Silver Knights, for their playoff run or next season’s training camp.
