Penticton Vees Closing In On CHL Record cover image

The Penticton Vees have 35 wins so far this season.

The Penticton Vees are on the verge of making history. With 14 games remaining, the WHL's newest team needs just three wins to set the CHL record for victories in a franchise’s first campaign. The current record is held by the 1982-1983 Longueuil Chevaliers of the QMJHL, who went 37-29-4.

Through their first 54 games, the Vees have posted a record of 35-11-4-4. Penticton is the favourite to capture the B.C. Division crown this year as they currently have a 12-point lead over the Prince George Cougars. While the Vees have been dominant at home this season, their road record is very impressive, as Penticton has gone 17-4-0-3 through 24 games.

As for the team itself, Fred Harbinson and his staff have done a great job of building a deep squad that can match up against anyone. Jacob Kvasnicka leads the team with 72 points, while seven players have scored at least 15 goals this season. The Vees have also received stellar goaltending this season as both Ethan McCallum and AJ Reyelts have stepped up in a big way for the expansion side.

Penticton is currently on the road as they are on their East Division road trip. The earliest they can set the record will be on February 24 against the Swift Current Broncos. The Vees will return home on March 6 when they take on the Wenatchee Wild.
