The WHL is set to play a big role in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft. Leading up to the draft, we at The Hockey News will be profiling some of the players who are projected to hear their names called at the end of June. Wrapping up the Eastern portion of this series is Hayden Harsanyi, who plays for the Saskatoon Blades.

The former Medicine Hat Tiger was one of the biggest beneficiaries of a change of scenery at the 2025 trade deadline, coming over to Saskatoon in the Tanner Molendyk trade. After missing about half the season due to injury, Harsanyi put up four points in seven games with Medicine Hat, and after joining the Blades collected a respectable 11 goals and nine assists in 30 games played.

While not a large player, at just five-foot-ten, Harsanyi is a scrappy forechecker that can be relied on to go retrieve pucks and set up plays from the wall. Most of his offense will come from the perimeter, but can be a vital part of the cycle and funneling pucks to the net.

Including the Calgary native in this series is partially an editor's choice; Harsanyi is not featured on many NHL draft boards, but he did place 190th on McKeen's Hockey and ranked 187th among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting. The work ethic is there, and he is a coachable player. With room to grow and gain much more prominent minutes on a rebuilding Blades squad, the 2025 draft hopeful has a potential future at the next level.
