Welcome to this edition of the 2025 WHL Prospect Pools. Throughout the 2025 off-season, we will be taking a look at current or recently graduated WHLers who have either been drafted or signed by NHL clubs. Today's organization is the Edmonton Oilers, which has three WHLers in its prospect pool.
All three WHL prospects in the Oilers organization were drafted in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft. Edmonton selected Kamloops Blazers' Tommy Lafrenière in the third round, Saskatoon Blades' David Lewandowski in the fourth round, and Calgary Hitmen's Aidan Park in the seventh round. The Oilers also have some notable WHL alums in their organization, including Matthew Savoie, Stuart Skinner, Leon Draisaitl and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.
Starting with Lafrenière, he had a rookie year to remember with the Blazers. In 68 games, the 18-year-old center scored 24 goals while recording 56 points. Listed at 6'0", 174 lbs, Lafrenière should be a point-per-game player this season for Kamloops.
Next up is Lewandowski, who also excelled in his rookie season. The 18-year-old winger recorded 39 points in 52 games, while also representing Germany at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup, U18s and at the World Juniors. Listed at 6'1", 176 lbs, Lewandowski should play a big role for Saskatoon if he returns to the WHL next year.
Last up is Park, whose time in the WHL was brief during the 2024-25 season. The 19-year-old forward only joined Calgary once the playoffs had started after spending the entire year in the USHL. Listed at 6'1", 187 lbs, Park is projected to return to the Hitmen next season before heading off to the University of Michigan in 2026-27.
