Saturday afternoon, former WHL champion Matt Savoie collected the first of potentially many points in his NHL career.

Winning a race behind the net against the Philadelphia Flyers, Savoie picks up a puck off the boards and feeds another WHL alumnus in Leon Draisaitl, who pounds home his 41st goal of the season. Conversely, Savoie savored the moment as he lead the team fist bump line to commemorate the first point of his career.

Originally a 9th overall pick by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2022 NHL draft, the St. Albert, Alta. native spent time with the Winnipeg ICE as well as 23 regular season and 19 playoff  games with the Moose Jaw Warriors where he claimed a WHL championship.
