Colgate now sits among a very select group to have a PWHL first overall pick from their program in Kristyna Kaltounkova. They are the only program to have had players picked first, and second, as Danielle Serdachny was the PWHL's second overall pick in 2024. The school also saw goaltender Hannah Murphy picked early in the PWHL Draft, and veteran Neena Brick sign in Europe. They joined a growing group of Colgate alumni in the pros including 2024 PWHL picks Sydney Bard, Allyson Simpson, Dara Grieg, Kayle Osborne, and Serdachny.
It's pro success that along with their NCAA accolades and academic offerings, has placed Colgate as a top destination for elite talent. Colgate is bringing over Chloe Goofers from Merrimack as an incoming transfer as well.
Here's a look at Colgate's women's hockey recruiting class for 2025-26.
One of the top players in the OWHL U-22 Elite league, Copetti had a golden 2024-25 winning her second Canadian national title with Team Ontario-Red, and also winning a U-18 World Championship gold medal with Team Canada. She scored more than a point per game last season for Durham West and notched a point per game for Canada. Copetti is a power forward who protects the puck well. She sees the ice well allowing her to find soft spaces to score.
A savvy defender who skates well and can generate offensive opportunities herself off the rush, or by distributing from the blueline. Senecal was one of USA's key performers winning gold at the 2024 IIHF U-18 World Championships. She's gained a plethora of experience moving between several of USA Hockey's top amateur programs in recent seasons that she'll bring to the ice at Colgate.
Another dual gold medalist last year winning a Canadian national title and U-18 World Championship gold with Canada, Sydney Sawyer is a defender who makes a good first pass and transitions well. She played for the powerhouse Etobicoke program and scored eight points in six games at Worlds, leading all defenders with six assists.
Wood is Colgate's third member of Canada's U-18 gold medal team joining in 2025-26. She's a good skater who brings energy to the ice and can also play a solid two-way game. Not to be forgotten, Wood generates chances for herself and her teammates and projects as a high end playmaker at the NCAA level.
Beauchamp is an electric offensive player who has a shoot first mentality. She had 33 goals and 59 points last season in 39 games for Etobicoke. In the offensive zone, Beauchamp is creative and can turn off defenders on a dime. There's a lot to like about her game that should translate to immediate production in the NCAA.
