Princeton is losing the best player in program history, but has two years of star studded recruits set to join the program. Here's a look at the Princeton women's hockey recruiting class.
Princeton owns a distinction only two NCAA women's hockey programs can - they are the alma mater of a PWHL first overall pick. That honor went to 2024's first overall selection Sarah Fillier, who captained Princeton last season.
Fillier leaves Princeton as the programs all-time points leader. Quite frankly, it's impossible to replace a player like Sarah Fillier. That said, Princeton has one of the best recruiting classes in the nation this year.
Here's a look at the six players set to join Princeton's women's hockey team this season:
Mackenzie Alexander, F, 2006 - One of the best pure goal scorers entering the NCAA next season Alexander scored a point per game for Canada at the U-18 World Championships this year, her second time playing for Canada at the event, and also won a national title with Team Ontario. In junior, Alexander starred for a powerhouse Etobicoke Dolphins team scoring a whopping 58 goals and 103 points in only 39 games. She's a future NCAA star.
Brooklyn Nimegeers, D, 2006 - She's a strong skater who uses her agility to close gaps and also likes to play a physical game. A cornerstone of the Regina Rebels' back-to-back trips to the Esso Cup, Nimegeers represented Saskatchewan at the National Championships and has been on Hockey Canada's U-18 radar.
Lucia and Angelina DiGirolamo, F, 2005 - Entering the NCAA at 19 out of the Bishop Kearney program, the DiGirolamo twins are physically ready to compete. Lucia DiGirolamo represnted USA at the U-18 World Championships in 2023. Angelina was also in the USA Hockey program, earning invites to national camps. The duo are going to immediately help Princeton's depth.
Rosie Klein, D, 2005 - Solid defender coming out of the Chicago Mission program. Klein also played for USA's U-18 team at their Summer Select Series against Canada and was the 2023 Illinois Girls High School Player of the Year.
Hannah Fetterolf, F, 2005 - Won back-to-back national titles with Shattuck St. Mary's where this season Fetterolf contributed 19 goals and 37 points in 55 games. The Shattuck program continues to pump out college ready players, and the Pittsburgh product should be no different.
Looking ahead to 2025-2026, Princeton gets another star studded class including Megan Healy, Ellie Dimatos, Riley Sorokan, and Sawyer Fleming.
