This tournament, the second in the sport's history, runs from November 24–30 in Newcastle, Australia.
Following a silver medal at last year's inaugural World Para Ice Hockey Women’s World Championships in Dolný Kubín, Slovakia, Team Canada has announced its roster for next month's tournament held in Newcastle, Australia.
“This is the strongest team we’ve ever fielded, and I couldn’t be prouder to coach this group,” said head coach Tara Chisholm in a team release. “We have talented, intelligent players who bring out the best in one another and make us dangerous across our lineup. Every athlete has represented Canada before, and they bring that experience alongside a hunger to keep getting better. I can’t wait to see this group bring everything they’ve worked for to the ice in Australia.”
Returning are veterans Christina Picton, who also competes in Para Nordic Skiing, Alanna Mah and Raphaëlle Tousignant, who returns to competition after stepping away following a breast cancer diagnosis.
Canada's roster is as follows:
Forwards: Christina Picton, Alyssa White, Alicia Souveny, Raphaëlle Tousignant, Sheena Darnley, Aubree Clements, Peggy Assinck, Hailey King, Alanna Mah
Defenders: Mackenzie Sprong, Hailey Halik, Hadley Frittenburg, Émilie Charron-Pilotte
Goaltenders: Maggie Manning, Jessie Gregory
The second Women’s World Championship in the sport’s history gets underway from November 24 to 30. Canada, in Group B alongside Norway and Team World, will face Team World on November 24. Group A features the reigning champions, the United States, Great Britain and the host Australians.
