
Canada took the deciding fifth game of the 2024-25 Rivalry Series with a 3-1 win in front of a passionate crowd in Summerside, Prince Edward Island.

In true fashion of so many Canada versus USA series' and games, the deciding moment of the 2024-25 Rivalry Series came late in the third period of a 1-1 winner-takes-all game.
With the Rivalry Series tied a two games each, game five in Summerside , Prince Edward Island would decide the series, with Canada earning the 3-1 win to take the series 3-2.
After a scoreless first period, Brianna Jenner opened the scoring with assists to Danielle Serdachny and Daryl Watts.
Heading to the third period down a goal, USA's Kelly Pannek responded to tie things at 1-1. With the clock passing the midway point in the third still tied 1-1, Jennifer Gardiner scored her first career senior national team goal for Canada with 6:46 to go. The goal from the Montreal Victoire forward would stand as the game winner.
Gardiner's Montreal teammate Laura Stacey added an insurance marker late in the game scoring into an empty net.
Goaltenders at both ends were spectacular as Emerance Maschmeyer stopped 28 shots in the win, while Aerin Frankel turned aside 40 shots in the loss.
The next time USA and Canada will meet is in the 2025 World Championships scheduled for this April in Czechia.
