Denmark named their women's hockey national team as the nation prepares to host the IIHF Women's World Championships next month.
The hosts, Denmark, have named their 2026 IIHF Women's World Championship roster. The world is set to descend on Herning and Esbjerg, Denmark from November 6 to 16.
Denmark will bring 24 players to the tournament, headlined by the nation's first ever PWHL Draft pick, netminder Emma-Sofie Nordström, who upon completion of the World Championships is headed to training camp next month with PWHL Hamilton.
"We have a good squad with both very young, talented and untested players together with an older and more experienced core, but what all our players have in common is that they have lots of talent, energy and hunger," said general manager Morten Green in a translated statement. "The players have worked hard to get here, and having to play a World Cup on home soil is an experience they will remember for the rest of their lives. We come into the tournament as clear underdogs and have great respect for our opponents, but we are looking forward to showing what Danish women's ice hockey can do."
Eight players are back on Denmark's roster from the group that last played in the top division in 2022, when Denmark also hosted.
Among the top players in Denmark's lineup are players like Nordström, veteran Nicoline Søndergaard Jensen, and rising star Nikita Bergmann.
Playing in a pool with Canada, Finland, Sweden, and Japan, Denmark will be hard pressed to avoid playing for relegation. They'll need to upset a team in round robin play to avoid that fate.
