The SDHL looks set to be a two team race from start to finish with the powerful rosters being build by Brynäs and Luleå.
After Djurgårdens, who finished third last season behind the two powerhouse teams, chose not to bring back their leading scorer Josefine Jakobsen and third leading scorer Julia Östlund, it didn't take long for Brynäs to see the opportunity to sign the veteran pair.
"I was immediately interested when Brynäs got in touch, it is a professional club that is really at the forefront of the SDHL on all levels. I felt that I was hungry for a new challenge and this feels like a new ignition for me," said Jakobsen in a team news release.
Last year, Jakobsen, who has served as the longtime captain for Denmark's women's national team, scored 29 points in 30 games with Djurgårdens.
Julia Östlund was tied for third in scoring with Djurgårdens with 21 points in 28 games. She's spent nine seasons with the team.
"It feels very good to have this done. It feels really exciting to be able to represent such a big club as Brynäs, which has had many successes on the women's side in recent years," said Östlund. "I have a good grasp of the team and it will be inspiring to play with such good players. I'm here to win and the goal is obviously to go all the way."
The signings come only a day after Brynäs announced they had signed Finnish national team member Jenniina Nylund, who recently completed a standout NCAA career with St. Cloud State.
