Jessica Campbell and Kori Cheverie both stepped behind the bench Monday night in NHL preseason action with Campbell coaching with the Seattle Kraken and Cheverie serving the the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Cheverie was named a guest coach for the Pittsburgh Penguins this season and will also serve as the head coach of PWHL Montreal.
“Ever since I started talking to Pittsburgh, it's been an amazing experience, and they've really welcomed me with open arms,” Cheverie said in a Penguins news release. “This week has been awesome in terms of being at the main camp, of being able to learn what I've been able to learn."
“It’s awesome, because (with) the evolution on the women's side of the game, everything that Pittsburgh's talking about is not necessarily anything new, it's just maybe new vocabulary or new ways to teach it, and maybe a couple extra details. So, that puts us in a good spot going back to Montreal and the PWHL.”
Campbell has served as an assistant at the AHL level with the Coachella Valley Firebirds, the Kraken's top affiliate.
"I just focused on the task at hand in coaching...it's obviously a tremendous opportunity," said Campbell following the game against the Calgary Flames.
