The attorney and hockey executive takes over the GM role from Cara Gardner Morey, who was named head coach on July 30.
On Tuesday, the Vancouver Goldeneyes named Alison Izzi as the team's next General Manager, replacing Cara Gardner Morey, who was named head coach on July 30.
“Alison brings a vast array of knowledge and experience to the Goldeneyes, making her an ideal fit to lead the team,” said Jayna Hefford, PWHL Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations, via team release. “She has spent her career working across so many areas that are central to running a professional hockey team — from player contracts to hockey operations, governance, and player safety. She understands how all those pieces connect, and that perspective will be incredibly valuable in her role as General Manager.”
Izzi, a graduate of the Western New England University School of Law and Springfield College, most recently served as a clerk in the NHL Legal Department after serving as Vice President of Hockey Operations/Governance at the AHL.
"I'm excited to welcome Alison to the Goldeneyes and get started working with her on our shared vision of bringing a Walter Cup to Vancouver," said Gardner Morey. "She brings great experience from working in league hockey operations with the AHL and her many years in the world of professional hockey, and I'm looking forward to taking the Goldeneyes to the next level with her this season."
