Anna Meixner spent the past two seasons in the PWHL with the Ottawa Charge and Vancouver Goldeneyes. Now the veteran Austrian forward is heading back to Sweden signing with Brynas in the SDHL.
Anna Meixner is leaving the PWHL. The veteran forward and captain of Austria's national program has signed a two-year contract to return to Sweden to play for Brynas, the club she spent four seasons with prior to leaving for North America.
"Anna choosing to come back of course means a lot to us," said general manager Erika Grahm in a translated news release.
"Everyone knows what qualities she possesses on the ice, but also off the ice where she is a natural leader. She will help the team to the next level with her routine and experience. In our conversations during the spring, I have felt a great hunger in Anna to continue developing as a player and I think we will see an even higher level from her. We are really looking forward to working with Anna again."
Meixner had six points in 30 games last season split between the Ottawa Charge and Vancouver Goldeneyes. She was part of a midseason six-player trade that sent her to Vancouver. Meixner was originally a sixth round pick, 32nd overall of the Ottawa Charge in 2024.
Prior to joining the PWHL, she was the SDHL's Most Valuable Player and Forward of the Year in 2023.
