Boston Fleet netminder Emma Söderberg's long rumoured return to Sweden is now a reality as the netminder officially signed a one-year contract with SDE HF with an option for a second.

"We are very happy that one of the world's best goalkeepers, Emma Söderberg, chooses SDE as the next stop in her already fantastic career," said SDE's Helene Åström. "Emma has proven to be the leading Swedish goalkeeper in the Damkronorna in recent seasons and we hope that Emma can help us succeed in the same way that we help Emma continue to be an anchor in the Damkronorna."

Söderberg, 27, was selected 58th overall in the inaugural 2023 PWHL Draft by the Boston Fleet. Over two seasons with the team she appeared in 14 games posting a 2.80 GAA and .893 save percentage.

"I'm looking forward to coming home to Sweden and being close to family and friends. I think it feels great to represent SDE this season, they have made an impressive journey. I'm looking forward to being a part of it and contributing to the development and taking new steps as a team and individually," Söderberg said in a translated quote.

Söderberg is also the starting goaltender for Sweden's senior national team. She played five games for Sweden this year at the World Championships and also represented the team at the Olympic Games Qualifiers.

Sweden will play in Group B at the 2026 Olympics where Söderberg will be counted on once again.

The signing comes only a week after the Boston Fleet lost goaltender Klara Peslarova to Sweden where she signed with Brynas.
