Aerin Frankel posted her third straight shutout, a 4-0 decision against the Toronto Sceptres, in what is turning out to be a record setting season for the Boston Fleet netminder.

Aerin Frankel is the difference. The Boston Fleet netminder recorded her third straight shutout, a PWHL first, on Friday night in a 4-0 decision over the Toronto Sceptres.

Frankel now has seven shutouts this season, also a PWHL record for the most in a season.

Perhaps more importantly to Frankel, is that her play is helping the Boston Fleet maintain their hold on first overall in the PWHL.

On Friday, Liz Schepers scored the first two goals of the game for Boston banging home a rebound and then tipping a Haley Winn shot for her second. Boston continues to start hot as they have scored the first goal 18 times already this season.

Still in the second period, Jessie Eldridge got her first in a Fleet uniform after being acquired earlier this month. She connected with Alina Muller on the play.

In the third, after recently being activated from long term injured reserve, Sophie Shirley got her first of the season in another second effort goal by the Fleet. Minutes later however, Shirley was the recipient of a brutal hit by Clara Van Wieren who was assessed a five minute major for boarding on the play that caused both teams to erupt into a physical confrontation.

Boston finished the game on the power play, but the score would remain 4-0.

Boston has a tough foe approaching to keep their shutout streak alive as they face the Minnesota Frost on Sunday. Although they lead the league in goals scored, the Minnesota Frost are coming off being shutout 3-0 by Montreal on Wednesday.
