Members of the Vancouver Goldeneyes, Ottawa Charge, New York Sirens, and PWHL Detroit joined Canucks alumni and Vancouver first-responders for a charity hockey game on September 25.

The 2026–27 PWHL regular season may still be a ways away, but already, the Vancouver Goldeneyes have begun to hit the ice.

Five current members of the Goldeneyes organization, as well as three other PWHL defenders, took part in the Canucks For Kids Fund (CFKF) Charity Game on Friday, September 25. As part of the Canucks’ first-ever three-day Fan Fest, proceeds from the game’s ticket sales went towards the CFKF.

The Charity Game was well-attended, with fans occupying parts of both the upper and lower-bowl of Rogers Arena.

The game itself featured two teams — Team White Skate and Team Black Skate, with the logos and patterning providing a nod to the Canucks’ uniforms from the 1990s. Goldeneyes captain Ashton Bell helped anchor Team White Skate’s blueline alongside Ottawa Charge defender Kate Reilly. Vancouver locals and fellow Goldeneyes Katie Chan and Kim Newell also donned the white skate, with Chan skating on a line with firefighter Jordan Liang and Canucks skills and skating coach Jason Krog.

Four PWHLers played for Team Black Skate. New York Sirens captain Micah Zandee-Hart and PWHL Detroit defender Nina Jobst-Smith skated as part of their team’s three D-pairings, the likes of which also featured firefighter Darren Ferris and Canucks alumni Dave Babych, Mike Brown, and Kirk McLean. Goldeneyes goaltender Kristen Campbell started in net, while forward Jenn Gardiner played on a line with trick-shot specialist Pavel Barber and Canucks co-President Henrik Sedin. Also joining Team Black Skate as their Head Coach was Goldeneyes bench boss Cara Gardner Morey.

Vancouver’s Goldeneyes showcased their stuff in front of the crowd, from Gardiner’s slick shootout goal to Newell’s massive stop on Sedin.

This isn’t the first instance in which the Goldeneyes have collaborated with the Canucks this off-season. Gardiner joined the Canucks’ Development Camp as coach back in July, while Chan and Goldeneyes forward Hannah Miller took part in the CFKF’s Kits Fest in mid-August. On Sunday, September 28, Gardiner also joined Canucks co-Presidents Daniel and Henrik Sedin for their Grouse Grind Challenge in support of Adopt-A-School.

“It’s really special to get to wear the Canucks logo in any capacity,” Gardiner had said during Canucks Development Camp in July. “[Then-Canucks Assistant GM] Cammi [Granato] and I talked about how we can continue to grow bigger and better and bring more girls in.”
