The Vancouver Goldeneyes have re-signed both Jennifer Gardiner and Izzy Daniel protecting them from expansion selection.
Jennifer Gardiner and Izzy Daniel are staying with the Vancouver Goldeneyes after the duo re-signed on Wednesday.
Both were required to sign in Phase 3 of the PWHL expansion player distribution process after receiving Foundational Player Offers from expansion teams in Phase 2.
Gardiner, who finished the season tied with Sarah Nurse and Sophie Jaques for the team's goal-scoring lead (9), signed a three-year Standard Player Agreement that will keep her with her hometown team through the 2028-29 season. She finished the 2025-26 season within the PWHL's top-20 in points for the second consecutive season, putting together a 19-point season this year.
As well as being one of five Goldeneyes from BC, Gardiner was also the first player from BC to sign with Vancouver. She represented Canada at the 2026 Winter Olympics for the first time in her career, scoring her first Olympic goal in a 5-0 win against Finland.
Daniel finished the 2025-26 season with seven goals and three assists in 28 games played through the 2025-26 season, surpassing her rookie-season total of seven points with the Toronto Sceptres. Having signed a two-year SPA with Vancouver, she will now remain with the Goldeneyes through the 2027-28 season.
Often referred to as one of her team's unsung heroes, Daniel hit a hot streak in January, collecting five points in six games. She found a particular amount of success against her ex-team, the Sceptres, scoring three goals and two assists in four games against Toronto.
The two forwards will join Nurse, Jaques, and Emerance Maschmeyer on Vancouver's protection list. The Goldeneyes have one more protection slot that they can use during Phase 3 of the expansion process.
