New York added their third defender selecting Jamie Bourbonnais 9th overall in the PWHL draft.
Jamie Bourbonnais has been selected 9th overall by PWHL New York in the PWHL Draft.
Bourbonnais, 25, is a member of Canada's national team and last season played in the PWHPA with Team Scotiabank.
The 5-foot-7 right shot defender has won gold, silver, and bronze with Canada at the World Championships, and also represented Canada at the U-18 Worlds.
On the Secret Dream Gap Tour last year, Bourbonnais tied for third in scoring among defenders with Megan Keller, recording 12 points in 19 games for Team Scotiabank. Only Lee Stecklein scored more among defenders entering the PWHL this season, as Laura Fortino, who was second in defensive scoring will play in Italy.
At the NCAA level, Bourbonnais was a four year standout with Cornell, scoring 41 points in 33 games during her senior season in 2019-2020.
She was the third defender to join New York after the team signed Micah Zandee-Hart and selected Ella Shelton in the first round. The pick gives New York three defenders from Canada's national team.
