Former Olympian and current PWHPA board member Jocelyne Lamoureux made a statement this week supporting the exclusion of transgender women from sport.

Jocelyne Lamoureux, a former USA national team member and current board member of the PWHPA continued to advocate against the inclusion of transgender individuals in women's sport this week.
Lamoureux spoke to support the exclusion of trans women in women's sport through ICONS, the Independent Council on Women’s Sports, which touts themselves as a group "advocating for female protected categories in sport."
Lamoureux wrote a statement supporting an appeal from USA Powerlifting against a decision made by a Minnesota judge ruling USA Powerlifting was discriminating against a transgender woman seeking to compete. The two-year court case ordered USA Powerlifting to "cease and desist from all unfair discriminatory practices," brought about by JayCee Cooper, who was banned from participating in women's competitions
"The harm is in making a person pretend to be something different, the implicit message being that who they are is less than," Judge Patrick C. Diamond wrote in the ruling.
In a post published by ICON's Twitter account, Lamoureux wrote in support of ICONS appeal against the inclusion of transgender women in powerlifting.
"I'm a three-time hockey Olympian & I attended high school in Minnesota as well as competed for the University of Minnesota for one season in the NCAA. I stand with @USAPowerlifting in their efforts to keep competition fair for girls & women in sports. Title IX was created to provide opportunities for women and girls and this is a pivotal moment in protecting those opportunities & the fairness of their competitions."
ICONS general petition, as listed on their official website, seeks to exclude transgender women from women's sport "by defining eligibility for the women’s/girl’s categories to participants born female."
The ICONS website calls for transgender women to be placed in a separate category or to compete with men.
The ICONS website makes numerous claims including that "There is NO scientific evidence to support males competing in the women’s category, regardless of suppression and intervention, and "Sex in humans is binary and immutable" in support of their goals to keep transgender women out of women's sport.
Jocelyne and Monique Lamoureux, who were both inducted to the US Hockey Hall of Fame last year, were called out earlier this month for repeatedly liking and sharing transphobic content on Twitter and Instagram.
The Lamoureux twins last played in the PWHPA in 2020-2021 and most recently represented Team USA at the 2018 Olympics.
Request for comment from the PWHPA regarding Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson's role in sharing transphobic content was not returned.
