PWHL Boston has signed PHF MVP, leading scorer, and Newcomer of the Year Loren Gabel to a two-year contract. Also signing with their respective teams are Allie Munroe and Alexandra Labelle.

PWHL Boston has secured the PHF's most valuable player signing Loren Gabel to a two-year contract. Boston selected Gabel 22nd overall in the fourth round of the PWHL Draft.
Last season with the PHF's Boston Pride, Gabel scored 40 points in 22 games to lead her team and the league in scoring. She was also named the PHF Newcomer of the Year and PHF All-Star MVP.
“We are very fortunate to have Loren back in Boston," said head coach Courtney Kessel. "She is a dynamic, shifty forward with one of the quickest releases we have seen in women's hockey. She has the ability to change the game with her natural goal-scoring instincts."
In 2019 Gabel won a bronze medal with Canada at the World Championships, scoring six goals and seven points in seven games.
Gabel also won the 2019 Patty Kazmaier Award as the NCAA's top player after scoring 40 goals and 69 points in 38 games for Clarkson. She helped Clarkson win back-to-back NCAA national titles in 2017 and 2018. She was also back-to-back ECAC MVP in 2018 and 2019.
“I am absolutely thrilled to continue my professional hockey career in the vibrant city of Boston," said Gabel. "The dedicated fan base fills me with excitement and pride, and I cannot wait to lace up my skates and give my all to contribute to the team’s success in this iconic city.” Following her NCAA career, the 26-year-old Kitchener, Ontario product spent three seasons in the PWHPA before joining the PHF last season.
Toronto has inked blueliner Allie Munroe to a one-year contract.
“We are very happy with the signing of Allie, she will make our blue line that much harder to play against and she makes us better all around,” said general manager Gina Kingsbury.
Munroe, 26, is entering her fifth season of professional hockey. After graduating from Syracuse where she served as captain in her senior season, Munroe spent two seasons overseas with Djurgardens in Sweden before signing with the Connecticut Whale. Last year, the Defener of the Year nominee scored 16 points in 24 games.
Munroe had re-signed with the Whale this offseason for $105,000. She was drafted 50th overall by Toronto this year.
Alexandra Labelle has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with PWHL Montreal.
Last season Labelle finished third on the PHF's Montreal Force in scoring with 13 points in 24 games.
“We are excited to announce the signing of Alexandra Labelle, a versatile player capable of performing in various positions, including center," said general manager Pascal Daoust. "Her professional experience and continuous personal growth throughout her career have elevated her game, making her a valuable asset in crucial moments.”
