PWHL training camps continue this week as teams rapidly close in on the November 29 deadline to reduce their roster size to 27 players. After a few days of training, teams took to the ice, often for practices in multiple groups, but this week teams are forming fully combined practices, playing scrimmages, and seeing how players stack up.

Here's a look at some of the top stories coming out of PWHL training camps.

    Desbiens Returns To The Ice

In Montreal, Ann-Renee Desbiens returned to the ice taking limited repetitions as she continues to heal from an undisclosed injury. It was a good sign for the Montreal club, after Desbiens missed the November Rivalry Series stops for Canada as well. As reported by Radio Canada's Christine Roger, Laura Stacey also returned to the ice on Tuesday after missing an earlier skate. Sarah Bujold has also been held off the ice, and the trio will miss Montreal's scrimmage, but are close to returning.

PWHL Toronto has also seen a few players in and out of camp including Blayre Turnbull and Natalie Spooner, who have both taken rest days.

    Teams Announcing New Staff

Pernilla Winberg joined PWHL Boston's training camp this week as a coach, and the team announced she'll hold an assistant coaching role this season. The longtime Swedish national team member and U-18 national team coach played NCAA hockey with the University of Minnesota-Duluth from 2008 to 2013. Could she be a doorway to Boston bringing in top Swedish talent next year?

New York added two new coaches to their staff. Present at camp already, the team formally announced the hirings of Laura Brennan and Gordon Woodhall. Brennan, who was hired as an assistant coach, coached and played with the Connecticut Whale, and also spent a season playing for Quinnipiac in the region. Woodhall, who played university hockey for Manitoba, spent the past two seasons as a goaltending consultant with Canada's U-18 women's national team. He joins as New York's goaltending coach.

Report: Team Names Still Not Determined

According to a report by The Athletic's Hailey Salvian, PWHL senior vice president of business operations Amy Scheer stated that "Just because they’re trademarked doesn’t mean we’ll end up there," in reference to the six PWHL names (Echo, Torch, Wicked, Superior, Sound, Alert) the league trademarks.

“While everybody is waiting with bated breath for team names, I just think that we need to be very deliberate and take our time and do it properly. I think our fans deserve that,” Scheer told The Athletic..
