PWHL New York general manager Pascal Daoust discusses his eight picks in the 2024 PWHL Draft, and the impact he believes this draft will have for PWHL New York.

PWHL New York general manager Pascal Daoust was thrilled with his team's draft picks that included first overall selection Sarah Fillier. He discusses his picks and their impact for the team.

When you look at PWHL New York's 2024 draft class, it's hard not to feel optimistic for the future of the team.

New York was not only able to select Sarah Fillier with the first overall pick, they also added Maja Nylen Persson and Noora Tulus, two of the top European players available, NCAA standouts, Elle Hartje, Allyson Simpson, Gabby Rosenthal, and Kayle Osborne, and U Sports star Emmy Fecteau.

"What a great day for New York," PWHL New York general manager Pascal Daoust said following the draft. "...for New York I feel that we definitely have good news and good players to present to our crowd, so look forward to being November already."

"We knew that Sarah would be our pick," said Daoust.

He let Sarah Fillier know she would be their first overall pick moments before the selection, and Daoust was able to add much needed forward depth to New York's roster.

He also added right handed defenders Maja Nylen Persson and Allyson Simpson who will round out what will now be one of the strongest and deepest defensive groups in the PWHL alongside Ella Shelton, Jaime Boubonnais, Micah Zandee-Hart, and Brooke Hobson.

The final positional addition Daoust made was selecting netminder Kayle Osborne. Osborne played for New York's new head coach Greg Fargo at Colgate University last season and will be tasked with pushing Corinne Schroeder, who is expected to re-sign as the team's starting goalie for next season.
