PWHL Teases November 10 Release Of Expansion Team Names And Logos

The day has almost arrived for PWHL fans who have anxiously awaited the release of names and logos for the league’s four expansion franchises.
On the opening day of the 2026 World Championships in Denmark, the PWHL released teaser videos across the social media platforms of their four expansion markets hinting at a November 10 release of nicknames and logos for teams in Detroit, Hamilton, Las Vegas, and San Jose.

Earlier this offseason, the league unveiled the home and away jerseys for each expansion market, which sticking to league tradition featured only the market name displayed diagonally across the front of the uniform. The league chose bold colors in some markers, like the orange and blue combination in San Jose, and added more traditional colours, like Detroit’s black jerseys, that had previously been absent from the league’s repertoire in others.

PWHL team names have been finalized and were communicated to teams more than a month ago, as reported by The Hockey News, sparking speculation into the names for each team.

It’s expected the PWHL will continue to favor abstract names in multiple markets, but will also add nicknames harkening more tangible images in others. This round of expansion will also see the league’s first names featuring alliteration with city names.

PWHL camps open November 18, just over a week after the anticipated release of team names and logos. The release also coincides with several season ticket holder events next week across the league.

The 2026-27 PWHL season kicks off December 5 with a trio of games including Seattle facing Vancouver, Hamilton taking on Montreal, and Minnesota playing San Jose.
