After signing Claire Thompson and Sophie Jaques earlier in the day, it appears PWHL Vancouver is continuing to load up in the exclusive signing window of the PWHL's expansion process agreeing to terms with forward Sarah Nurse and netminder Emerance Maschmeyer.

Nurse was a Second Team PWHL All-Star in the league's inaugural season and was one of Toronto's foundational signings.

Maschmeyer was a foundational signing for the Ottawa Charge and was the team's starter in the first two seasons before going down to injury late in year two.

Both players are members of Team Canada.

Jaques Signs An Extension With Vancouver

Sophie Jaques isn't just going to Vancouver, she's staying in Vancouver signing a three-year contract with the team. She's the first player in the PWHL signed into the 2027-2028 season.

“Vancouver fans are going to quickly fall in love with everything that Sophie brings to her game,” said Cara Gardner Morey, PWHL Vancouver General Manager. “Sophie is a proven winner, and that experience will be instrumental in shaping our foundation from the blue line. She is a dynamic defender with world-class speed and skill, and a player I believe is only scratching the surface of her potential.”

“I'm incredibly honoured to sign with PWHL Vancouver and to help lay the foundation for something truly special in this city,” said Jaques. “Being part of this historic moment means so much, and I can't wait to get started and represent Vancouver with pride in this vibrant and hockey-loving community."

    Minnesota Officially Protects Britta Curl-Salemme

After losing Claire Thompson and Sophie Jaques, the Minnesota Frost were the first team eligible to protect a fourth player. They used their final protection on rookie forward Britta Curl-Salemme.
