PWHL leader Stan Kasten says teams "will certainly have team names" before the beginning of the season, but he's unsure if that will include logos.

In a hot button topic among fans, PWHL board member and member of the owernship's Mark Walter Group, Stan Kasten has made the assurance teams in the PWHL will have names before puck drop.

""We will certainly have team names," Kasten told CBC in an interview.

"I don't know about logos. But we'll see. We might," he continued. "We might surprise everyone. Or we might not surprise everyone. We're just not ready to announce anything yet but when we are, we will."

The discussion grew last week when a report from The Athletic's Michael Russo stated PWHL teams may not have names or logos ready in time for the opening of their inaugural season, and instead would have jerseys with the market name diagonal across the front. Russo wrote, "there’s no guarantee any of the six teams will have a team name and logo by opening night."

The league is also working on created a logo for the PWHL itself.
