In discussing his company’s new deal with the PWHL, Scripps Sports president Brian Lawlor also stated the PWHL will have an All-Star game in Toronto this season.
PWHL fans heard the words of Scripps Sports president Brian Lawlor clearly.
Only hours after the PWHL signed a historic American national broadcasting deal with Scripps Sports, the media company’s president mentioned something fans have been waiting for, an All-Star Game.
Lawlor told BNN Bloomberg in a televised interview that Scripps Sports would “start with opening night, go through their All-Star Game in Toronto, we’ll carry semi-finals, and then the Walter Cup finals again.”
Language exists in the PWHL and PWHLPA’s collective bargaining agreement for an All-Star game to take place, but it has not happened to date.
No date was mentioned, although Lawlor also discussed 25 weeks of coverage which would span the PWHL season from the first week of December through at least May, potentially into early June.
Scripps Sports will carry a PWHL "Game of the Week" each Saturday along with multiple other games each week.
The PWHL, in. their inaugural season, competed in the NHL All-Star week festivities playing a 3-on-3 showcase. Multiple PWHL teams have also participated in NHL team skills competitions in recent seasons. To date however, a PWHL All-Star game and skills competition have not been held.
If Scripps Sports president Brian Lawlor is right, that's soon to change in 2026-27.
