The Seattle Torrent drew a sold out crowd of 17,335 in their first game back from the 2026 Olympics. The sold out Climate Pledge Arena passed the record set earlier this season in Washington as part of the PWHL Takeover Tour of 17,288.
"I don’t think you can ask for a better workplace environment, a better home base, and the love and support from the fans is so present," said Torrent forward Natalie Snodgrass.
"We take great pride as an organization to have the best fans in the league, and our fans take great pride in themselves to show up and want to break records. I just wish that we could have gotten a couple more points for them tonight. But what a cool experience for us and for them to be a part of history.”
The Toronto Sceptres spoiled the Seattle Torrent's post-Olympic homecoming beating the Torrent 5-2.
Jesse Compher opened the scoring for Toronto only 28 seconds into the game taking a feed from Daryl Watts.
Just prior to the end of the frame Seattle's Aneta Tejralova evened the score with a tic-tac-toe passing play between Danielle Serdachny, Julia Gosling, and Tejralova.
Renata Fast continued the back and forth game in the second period before Natalie Snodgrass again evened the score late in the frame for Seattle.
Finally in the third, Emma Maltais scored the game winner for Toronto early in the third. The Sceptres put the game away with a pair of empty net goals from Sara Hjalmarsson and Kali Flanagan to close out the 5-2 win.
“It’s really fun to get a win under our belts…It’s sometimes nice to know that we can find a way to win in moments that we are not having our typical best game," said Toronto's Emma Maltais. "I think there are a lot of learning points. We need to continue to try and play a hard game, get pucks in deep. I think you saw a couple of goals against that were costly from not doing that. It’s good to see our group battle back after we scored that go-ahead goal."
