The crowd at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle to watch Boston's 3-2 shootout win over the Montreal Victoire didn't break the American professional women's hockey mark set last season in Detroit, but it was strong nonetheless. With potential expansion in discussion for each stop on the PWHL's Takeover Tour, the 12,608 fans in attendance were certainly enough to have the league take notice.
The game between the PWHL's Boston Fleet and Montreal Victoire was the first of the PWHL's 2024-25 Takeover Tour visiting eight NHL venues as well as Quebec City this season.
Last season PWHL Ottawa and PWHL Boston played their stop on the PWHL Takeover Weekend at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit in front of an American record crowd of 13,736. The previous record had been set by PWHL Minnesota at their home opener when 13,316 fans attended.
The PWHL broke attendance record after attendance record last year including a world record for a professional women's hockey game at the Bell Center in Montreal drawing a sold out 21,105 fans.
Boston and Montreal will face off at the Bell Centre again this year on March 1.
Seattle's PWHL Takeover Tour stop was the first on a trek for the league that will include visits to Vancouver, Edmonton, Quebec City, Buffalo, Raleigh, Denver, Detroit, and St. Louis.
