Taylor Girard becomes the second member of the Connecticut Whale this week to renegotiate the second year of her existing contract.
For the second time this week, the PHF's Connecticut Whale have announced the renegotiation of a contract for a player returning on the second year of their deal. Taylor Girard signed a new deal to pay her $110,000 this season.
Girard was the 2022 PHF Newcomer of the Year. In two seasons in the league, Girard has scored more than a point per game in each campaign, including 28 points in 24 games last year for the Whale.
“Taylor will undoubtedly again be one of our leaders,” Whale GM Alexis Moed said in a team news release. “Utilizing her strength, speed, and puck protection; Taylor is an offensive powerhouse.”
The announcement comes only a day after the Whale announced the renegotiation of leading scorer and former PHF MVP Kennedy Marchment, who signed for $130,000 for next season.
The signing brings Connecticut's total to three players earning six figures after the team also signed former Olympic gold medallist Kacey Bellamy to a one-year, $133,000 contract this offseason.
“I’m really looking forward to getting back to Connecticut,” said Girard. “I love the culture we are building here and I could not be more excited to compete for an Isobel Cup!”
Alongside Marchment, Girard, and Bellamy, the Connecticut Whale also have Melissa Samoskevich, Allie Munroe, and Tori Howran under contract for next season.
