The future of San Jose hockey is in very good hands, and San Jose will have a lot to cheer for for years to come.
Going into the 2026-27 season, being a fan of any San Jose professional hockey team is going to be exciting. Whether you are a fan of the NHL's San Jose Sharks, AHL's San Jose Barracuda, or PWHL San Jose, you are in for high pace, high physicality hockey featuring future stars across the board.
All three of these teams bring young, exciting, youthful energy with stars like Macklin Celebrini, Laila Edwards, Will Smith, and Rory Guilday.
San Jose hockey will be filled with highlight-reel moments, moments that make you stand up from your seat and go, “Wow, what a play. Did I just see that?” Not only the sheer star quality but also just how young these stars and future stars of San Jose are. Fans will have a chance one night to watch Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith and then the next night watch Laila Edwards and Rory Guilday at the SAP Center. Or perhaps, they'll be part of regular double headers at the venue.
The San Jose Sharks recently also just finished up their draft, where they were selecting 2nd overall and 9th overall and then traded up to select 21st overall. San Jose had Laila Edwards announce the 2nd overall and 9th overall selections, and the crowd at the San Jose Sharks went absolutely crazy. It felt like the future of San Jose hockey was meeting.
Now the roots even go deeper, as we are also starting to see more Junior Sharks connections throughout the organizations. That included PWHL San Jose announcing the signing of a former Junior Shark and California native Brooke Bryant. In addition, in the 6th round of the 2026 NHL Draft, San Jose selected Jake Gustafson, another product of the Junior Sharks joining an organization in San Jose.
The future of San Jose hockey is in good hands, and with all young and exciting teams with star power, San Jose fans will be sitting on the edge of their seats no matter the game or the score. SAP Center will be filled with highlight reel goals and highlight-reel plays on any given night. San Jose fans, it’s time to get excited for what’s to come.
