PWHL teams will be looking to replenish their rosters with veteran players who can help fill the holes left through the expansion draft process. With every team in the league from expansion rosters to the existing six with money to use and roster spots to fill, the league will not only see unprecedented player movement via expansion, but potentially through free agency as well.
Up front, there's an impressive group of players coming off inaugural two-year contracts, and others who re-upped for a single year this season. That group includes Hannah Miller, Susanna Tapani, Tereza Vanisova, Michela Cava, Jesse Compher, Natalie Spooner, Shiann Darkangelo, and Hayley Scamurra who can all be impact players in the league. With each team facing holes in their scoring, the competition for these players will be fierce.
The same can be said on the blueline where players like Kali Flanagan and Kati Tabin played vital top four minutes with their teams. In net, any team losing a goaltender via expansion will have an immediate need, as will the expansion teams who certainly will not go beyond a single goalie in their selections, if they pick one at all. Maddie Rooney and Elaine Chuli enter the offseason with the best potential to step into a starting role. While both have been tied to European rumours, Emma Soderberg and Klara Peslarova may also get renewed interest.
The 2025 PWHL Draft has the potential to fill many of these holes as well, but in net and on the blueline, immediate impact players are in short supply.
Here's a look at the Top 30 pending PWHL free agents who could hit the market this offseason.
