    Colorado Eagles defenseman Jacob MacDonald has won the 2024-25 Eddie Shore Award as the AHL's outstanding defenseman. 

    MacDonald set the AHL record for most goals in a season by a defenseman last week when he scored his 31st goal of the season.

    The 32-year-old finished the season with 31 goals and 55 points in 63 games, leading all defensemen in scoring. 

    The Portland, Ore., native was named the the AHL's First All-Star Team this season. He was also named to the First Team in 2017-18 and to the Second All-Star Team in 2019-20.

    This is the third time MacDonald has led the AHL in goals by a defenseman and second time he has been the highest scoring defender. 

    MacDonald has 99 goals and 248 points in 340 career AHL games and 10 goals and 27 points in 135 career NHL games.
