(CHRIS NIEVES/ROCKFORD REGISTER STAR / USA TODAY NETWORK)The Grand Rapids Griffins have recalled goaltender Jan Bednar from the ECHL's Toledo Walleye, it was announced Thursday.
Bednar, a 2020 fourth round pick of the Detroit Red Wings, has spent the entire year with the Walleye, posting a record of 21-8-4 to go along with a 2.33 GAA and a .914 SP.
Since turning pro full time in North America at the end of the 2022-23 season, Bednar has been recalled to the Griffins multiple times but has not seen a game with the team. Spending the majority of his time with the Walleye, Bednar has accumulated a record of 44-16-6, a GAA of 2.52 and a .907 SP.
With Bednar joining the Griffins, he could finally have the chance to see his first AHL action. Having posted solid numbers at the ECHL level, Bednar seems to be ready to take the next step in his pro career.
