The Minnesota Wild announced they have hired Greg Cronin as the new head coach of the Iowa Wild.
Cronin spent the previous two seasons as head coach of the Anaheim Ducks where he had a record of 62-87-15. He spent 2018-2023 as the head coach of the AHL's Colorado Eagles.
The 62-year-old has a lengthy NHL coaching resume, including time as an assistant and associate coach with the New York Islanders from 2014-2018 an assistant with the Toronto Maple Leafs from 2011-2014, and another stretch as assistant with the Islanders from 1998-2003.
He was head coach of the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers from 2003-2005 while also serving as Islanders director of player development from 2002-2005.
The Boston, Mass., native has spent time as an assistant with NCAA III's Colby College, NCAA's University of Maine, and Colorado College.
He went on to serve as head coach of Maine for parts of two seasons and was head coach of Northeastern University from 2005-2011 where he was named Hockey East Coach of the Year in 2009.
Cronin was a co-founder of the US National Team Development Program and served in various roles for the team's first two seasons.
His experience will be a big help for a Wild team who had a 27-37-6-2 record this season and have not made the Calder Cup Playoffs since losing in the first round in 2022-23.
