    The Lehigh Valley Phantoms announced they have hired John Snowden as the team's new head coach. 

    Snowden spent the previous two seasons on the Phantoms bench as an assistant coach and two seasons as an assistant with the Toronto Marlies from 2021-23. 

    Prior to his time on an AHL bench Snowden served as an assitant coach, head coach, and director of hockey operations for the ECHL's Newfoundland Growlers, leading the team to a Kelly Cup championship while head coach in 2019. 

    The 43-year-old had a 62-17-7 record as head coach over parts of two ECHL seasons. He also worked as an assistant and associate coach with the ECHL's Orlando Solar Bears from 2015-18 and as a player/assistant coach with the Central Hockey League's Bloomington PrairieThunder in 2010-11.

    In his playing career Snowden went pointless in three AHL games, notched 210 points in 305 career ECHL games, 239 points in 304 career CHL games, and 58 points in 74 IHL games.

    Long-time NHLer and former Philadelphia Flyer Nick Schultz and Terrence Wallin will join the staff as assistant coaches.
