Hunt recalled to NHL club, Wallstedt sent to AHL where he should assume the starters net for Iowa

The Minnesota Wild announced they have recalled defenseman Daemon Hunt from their AHL affiliate Iowa Wild, and assigned goaltender Jesper Wallstedt to Iowa.
Hunt was a third round selection of the Wild in 2020, he appeared in 12 NHL games and registered one point last season. He also notched 29 points in 51 games for Iowa.
Wallstedt was selected 20th overall by the Wild at the 2021 draft. He recorded a 22-19-4 record with a .910 SV% with Iowa and a 2-1 record with a .897 SV% in three appearances with Minnesota last season.
The 21-year-old was a two-time AHL Player of The Week last season.
Minnesota signed Wallstedt to a two-year contract extension that runs through the 2026-27 season on Monday. The contract will pay him $2.2 million annually.
Minnesota has a pretty solidified defense core, but with an injury to Declan Chisholm there is a chance Hunt could make his first appearance of the season in one of the teams opening games.
Wallstedt should be the primary starter for Iowa, while Samuel Hlavaj, Dylan Ferguson, and the currently injured Troy Grosenick compete for games.
The Vasteras, SWE, native is a big part of Minnesota's future and should get some games with the NHL club this season, especially if 39-year-old Marc-Andre Fleury has injury problems.
