Providence Bruins forward Matthew Poitras has been named AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Apr. 13.

In two games last week Poitras notched two goals and added five assists.

The 21-year-old had a career-high four points on Apr. 11 in a 6-2 win over the Hartford Wolf Pack before adding three assists in a 4-3 overtime win over the Belleville Senators on Apr. 12

A second round pick of the Boston Bruins in 2022, Poitras has 16 goals and 40 points in 38 games this season in his first AHL campaign.

The Ajax, Ont., native recorded one goal and 10 assists in 33 NHL games with Boston this season after racking up five goals and 15 points in 33 games as a rookie last season.

With the Bruins having clinched a spot in the Calder Cup Playoffs Poitras will have a chance to continue his hot streak in a likely first-round matchup against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
