The Toronto Maple Leafs announced they have sent goaltender Dennis Hildeby to their AHL affiliate Toronto Marlies and activated Joseph Woll from injured reserve.

Hildeby went 1-1 in his first two career NHL games this season. He made 21 saves on 23 shots and backstopped the Leafs to a 4-2 win over New Jersey before giving up six goals on 38 shots in a loss to Columbus.

Woll is expected to start for the Maple Leafs tonight against St. Louis.

The 23-year-old Hildeby had a stellar first full pro season in North America in 2023-24, finishing with a 21-11-7 record, .913 SV% and 2.41 GAA in 41 appearances.

The Marlies are a perfect 5-0 to begin the season and have only allowed eight goals. An already solid goaltending tandem now gets a boost with the return of Hildeby, it will be interesting to see how the team splits the starts.

Matt Murray has a 2-0 record with a .914 SV%, while Artur Akhtyamov is 3-0 with a .964 SV% and a shutout in his first three games in North America.

Hildeby's first chance to see AHL playing time will be this weekend when the Marlies play a home-and-home on Friday and Saturday against the Belleville Senators.
