Things have been miserable for a longer than the Dallas Stars would like.
They extended their seven-game losing streak to eight with their playoff debut loss. The game wasn’t all bad, but a 5-1 final score against the Colorado Avalanche leaves a bitter taste in the team’s mouth.

The Stars will be without Miro Heiskanen for Game 2 on Monday night in Dallas. He was on the ice for morning skate but head coach Pete DeBoer told the media that he would not be playing.

It’s good for the team to have their Star defender (pun intended) close to returning. However, news from the “other” team should send shudders down their spine.
Earlier on Monday, the Avalanche activated Gabriel Landeskog from Injured Reserve.
This is obviouslty a huge deal for the Avalanche will greatly impact the Stars. Everyone knew that Landeskog was ready to come back, especially once he went to the Colorado Eagles of the AHL for a conditioning loan.
The Avalanche have been without their captain in the lineup since they won the Stanley Cup. The Vegas Golden Knights and Florida Panthers have won the Stanley Cup since the last time Landeskog played an NHL game.
Before that announcement, Landeskog was one of the first skaters off the ice at morning skate. He has been staying out with the healthy scratches at practice up to this point, so this was the first indication that he could draw into the game on Monday night.
Stars fans will have to wait till warmups to see if their worst dreams will come true.
