It’s tough to win in hockey if you don’t operate as a team. Part of that is management acquiring the necessary players to do well in the regular season and make a deep playoff run.

Cody Ceci was one of the significant acquisitions this year. Between Miro Heiskanen’s injury, Nils Lundkvist’s shoulder surgery, and a few other ailments, the Stars haven’t had the cleanest bill of health.

Ceci would play 31 games with the Stars. After playing 54 games with the San Jose Sharks, he would finish the season with 85 games played.

He is the only player to play 85 games this season. Tyson Barrie was the last player to play 85 games in a season before this year.

The Stars defender becomes one of seven players to play 82 or more games this season. Mikael Granlund (who also came from the Sharks) played 83 games this year. Brandon Carlo, Charlie Coyle, Drew O’Connor, Fabian Zetterlund, and Will Borgen all played more than 82 games in the 2024-25 season.

Ceci continued his minute-munching ways after being traded from the Edmonton Oilers this past summer. Before coming to the Stars, he played in 54 games, recording 15 points while averaging 21:46 per game.

Once in Texas, he recorded nine points in 31 games. Ceci averaged 20:14 of ice time per game.
