The Stars kick off a four-game road trip in Tempe for the second meeting in five days against the Coyotes.

After a five-game homestand in which they went 3-2, the Dallas Stars embark on a four-game Western road trip, starting at Mullett Arena in Tempe against the Arizona Coyotes.

The two clubs met just last Wednesday in Dallas, where the Stars came out on top 5-2. Jamie Benn, Logan Stankoven and Tyler Seguin each scored goals in the second period to secure the win for the Stars (43-19-9, 95 points, who are in second place in the Central Division.

Dallas also beat the Coyotes 4-3 in overtime back on November 14, 2023 at American Airlines Center in this season's first meeting. Matt Duchene scored the game-winner in the extra frame.

The Stars are riding a six-game winning streak against Arizona and are 19-2-1 in the last 23 meetings, dating back to March 31, 2016. They've taken seven of their last nine games in Arizona, including the last two by a combined score of 12-4.

After falling to the Stars last Wednesday, the Coyotes edged the Seattle Kraken 2-1 in overtime at home on Friday. Clayton Keller tied the game with 1:08 to play in the third period, and Dylan Guenther scored his first-ever NHL overtime game-winner, moving Arizona's record to 29-36-5, good for 63 points and seventh place in the Central.

Dallas ended a five-game homestand on Friday with a 4-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Benn scored two goals within 1:17 of each other, while Joe Pavelski and Sam Steel each chipped in with a goal. After dropping the first two games of the homestand, Dallas has rebounded to win their last three games.

Things to Watch for:

  • Tyler Seguin, Jason Robertson, Matt Duchene and Nils Lundkvist each have three points in the two previous meetings against Arizona this season.
  • Jamie Benn is on a roll lately, carrying a five-game point streak into Sunday's contest (4-2-6), and has 14 points (6-8-14) over his last 10 games.
  • Joe Pavelski leads active Stars players in goals (32), assists (31) and points (63) in a team-high 80 career games against the Coyotes.
  • Clayton Keller has four goals in his last four games for Arizona, tying his career-long goal streak set last season.
  • Since being called up on January 7, the Coyotes' Dylan Guenther has tallied 22 points, including points in his last four games.
  • Arizona has won three consecutive home games, their first home streak of three or more since December 15-27, 2023.

Following the game in Tempe, the Stars travel to San Jose next Tuesday, Pacific Division-leading Vancouver Thursday and Seattle on Saturday.

Stars fans in the Metroplex can cheer on the team at a watch party at Buffalo Bros in Fort Worth. Puck drop is at 7 Pm CT and the game will be televised on Bally Sports Southwest.
