Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports - Stars Get Flagged On Social Media for Controversial Post

Like most professional sports teams, the Dallas Stars are quite active on social media. It's one of the most effective ways to interact with fans and create buzz for water cooler conversation.

After Wednesday night's 5-2 victory over the Arizona Coyotes, the Stars' social media team definitely generated buzz, not all of it flattering, after posting a graphic of a red fox (or coyote) being run over by a pickup truck featuring the caption, "road killed."

The post received over 3,000 likes, but not everyone was thrilled. X, formerly known as Twitter, flagged the post for what they deemed "sensitive content."

Replies ran the gamut of reactions: "but that's a fox not a coyote. What The Hell Is Wrong With You?" "Probably should delete this. It's not too late." "Why would you kill a red fox?" "Don't listen to them Admin. This is hilarious."

Not to be outdone, the Coyotes' social media team shared an image of downtown Dallas with a constellation in the shape of an L, along with a Google search for job applications to Chick-fil-A and Walgreens locations in the Dallas area with the caption, "Might have won the game, but took the 'L' on this one."

Rather than delete the original post, Stars' social media admin responded with, "at least we don't get used to L's."

As of now, the post remains on the Stars' X feed, with no comment from the team.

This isn't the first time a sports team has pushed the envelope of creative social media content, and it certainly won't be the last. While most likely meant to be all in good fun, this one probably put a big tear in that envelope and displayed a lack of good judgment.
