Former Fort Wayne Komets defenseman Kyle Mayhew is headed overseas.
The 27-year-old left-shot defenseman has signed a one-year deal in Germany with Augsburger Panther, according to reports Sunday.
Mayhew, an Anaheim Hills, Calif. native, split time this past season between the Komets and Bakersfield Condors of the American Hockey League.
The 5-foot-8, 192-pound Mayhew totaled 11 goals and 41 assists for 52 points in 60 regular-season games with the Komets.
Mayhew also earned ECHL Defenseman of the Year honors this season. He led all ECHL blueliners - and was tied for fourth overall in the league - with 27 power-play points, while ranking second with 22 power-play assists and third with five power-play goals.
Mayhew also appeared in 11 post-season games with Fort Wayne, collecting nine points (1-8-9). The Komets were eliminated by the Toledo Walleye in the Central Division Finals 4 games to 2.
Over parts of three ECHL seasons, Mayhew has totaled 112 points (27-85-112) in 136 games between the Komets and Utah Grizzlies.
In 17 career AHL games with the Condors and the Colorado Eagles, Mayhew put up 10 points (2-8-10).
Before turning pro, Mayhew spent five seasons in the NCAA with the University of Denver. He collected 35 points (6-29-35) in 153 games, helping Denver to an NCAA National Championship in 2021-22.
