The Idaho Steelheads have added defenseman Dawson Barteaux to the roster in advance of the team's Mountain Division Finals matchup against the Kansas City Mavericks.

Barteaux, 24, spent most of the 2023–24 season with the AHL's Manitoba Moose, where he scored five goals and 19 points in 45 games. The Moose were eliminated in the first round of the Calder Cup Playoffs by the Texas Stars.

Shortly after, Manitoba reassigned Barteaux to the ECHL, where the defenseman had three goals, 10 assists, 13 points, and a +19 plus/minus rating in 15 games this year.

The Foxwarren, Manitoba, native was originally drafted by the Dallas Stars in the sixth round, 168th overall, in the 2018 NHL Draft. Barteaux primarily played for the Steelheads last season, recording two goals and 24 points in 62 regular-season games.

He proved to be a valuable asset in the postseason, recording one goal and eight points in 14 games played while helping Idaho reach the Kelly Cup Finals. Barteaux will look to help the Steelheads get back to the finals this year.

Idaho advanced to the Mountain Division Finals after topping the Allen Americans in five games in the first round. Idaho will go against the top-seeded Kansas City Mavericks, who swept Tulsa in four games. That series begins on Saturday, May 4.
