The defending ECHL Kelly Cup champion Florida Everblades are still alive after finding the back of the net three times in the second period, while goaltender Cam Johnson made 24 saves in the team's 4-1 win over the Jacksonville Icemen on Tuesday.
The Everblades and Icemen will play in a winner-take-all Game 7 on Wednesday night, with the winner advancing to the South Division Finals and facing the Orlando Solar Bears.
After a scoreless first period that saw the two teams combine for 18 shots on goal, Florida broke through in a big way in the middle frame.
Bobo Carpenter scored the first of his two goals on the night and now has three goals in his last two games. Jacksonville attempted to clear their own zone, but a bouncing puck landed on Carpenter's stick for a quick wrister into the back of the Icemen's net.
Just over two minutes later, Cole Moberg found the back of the net for the first time this postseason. Josh Ho-Sang entered the offensive zone with a ton of speed but pulled up, waiting for help to arrive. He dished the puck to Moberg, who wristed a shot from long range past Jacksonville netminder Matt Vernon.
Late in the period, Logan Lambdin scored for the second consecutive game to extend Florida's lead to 3-0.
Justin McRae ended Johnson's shutout bid early in the third period after rifling a shot past the Florida netminder on the power play.
However, Carpenter restored the Everblades' three-goal lead via the empty-netter with 1:59 left in regulation.
