Simulating Rangers vs. Washington game three in NHL 24. Can Ovechkin finally get on the scoresheet and make an impact in this series?

Simulating Rangers vs. Washington game three in NHL 24. Can Ovechkin finally get on the scoresheet and make an impact in this series?

The Broadway Blueshirts can put a stranglehold on their first-round series against the Washington Capitals on Friday night. Alex Ovechkin and his squad return home and will need all the energy the crowd can give to help them out on the ice.

According to our good friends at The Hockey News Washington Capitals Site, it would appear rookie Ivan Miroshnichenko could make his NHL Playoffs debut. He skated on the fourth line in replace of Nicolas Aube-Kubel. Full practice lines here.

The status of defenders Nick Jensen and Rasmus Sandin remains uncertain. For that reason, we did not slot them in the Capitals lineup.

Washington's Projected Lines:

Ovechkin - McMichael - Oshie
Protas - Strome - Wilson
Pacioretty - Lapierre - Milano
Malenstyn - Dowd - Miroshnichenko

Fehervary - Carlson
Alexeyev - McIlrath
Johansen - Van Riemsdyk

C. Lindgren
Kuemper

The Rangers team has been fortunate thus far in these playoffs with no injuries to their lineup. Wennberg may be a game-time decision, but we kept him in the lineup centering their third line.

Rangers Projected Lines:

Kreider - Zibanejad - Roslovic
Panarin - Trocheck - Lafreniere
Cuylle - Wennberg - Kakko
Vesey - Goodrow - Rempe

R. Lindgren - Fox
Miller - Schneider
Gustafsson - Trouba

Our simulation has game three as a low-event game with the Rangers getting on the board quickly by one of their best playoff performers Chris Kreider.

New York held a 2-1 lead heading into the third until Dylan Strome tied the game. This game needed overtime. Vincent Trocheck gets sprung on a breakaway early in the extra frame and makes no mistake to win the game.
