The Czech national junior team took 10 of 12 possible points to win a five-day U-20 tournament against the junior national teams of Slovakia, Switzerland, Sweden and host Finland.

The tournament at the November international break is used as a chance to audition European-based players for spots on junior national teams before the official start of World Junior Championship training camps in mid December.

    Finland 5 - Slovakia 6 (OT)

    Friday, Nov. 8:

    Sweden 5 - Slovakia 2

    Saturday, Nov. 9:

    Sunday, Nov. 10:

The Czechs opened with a 5-4 overtime loss to a powerhouse Swedish squad full of NHL draftees that looked on paper to be the tournament favorite. But they followed that up with a come-from-behind 5-4 win over Slovakia, then 4-1 over Switzerland and 5-2 over Finland.

When Sweden lost 2-1 in a shootout to Switzerland on Saturday night, nobody could catch the first-place Czechs, even though they were out of games and the other four teams still had a remaining game on Sunday.

The leading scorer of the team and tournament was Utah HC prospect Vojtěch Hradek with 10 points – including a three-assist game against Sweden and a three-goal game against Slovakia. Hradec has four points in 11 Czech Extraliga games this season for BK Mladá Boleslav.

He was followed by eight points from undrafted 19-year-old Matěj Maštalířský of HC Litvínov. Sweden's Otto Stenberg (St. Louis Blues), Finland's Rasmus Kumpalainen (Minnesota Wild) and Czechia's Petr Sikora (Washington Capitals).

Among defensemen, Czechs Tomáš Galvas, Vojtěch Husinecký and projected 2025 first-round draft pick Radim Mrtka led with three points each. Axel Sandin-Pellikka (Detroit Red Wings) had two.
